Arena Rivals is a team-based CS2 competition run in seasons. You challenge other teams whenever it suits you, every match moves your rating — and at the end of the season a champion is crowned in three steps:
Challenge other teams and climb the rating. Every match counts.
The top 8 teams on the ladder go through to the playoffs, seeded by rating.
The two best teams from the playoffs meet in the final for the season title.
The team leader enters the team from the Arena Rivals page — it is free. Every player on the roster must have linked their Steam account to their profile, and in each match at least 4 of 5 players must come from the registered roster.
No team yet? Create one under Teams, or find players and teams recruiting on the player market.
Enter with your teamMatches are arranged as challenges between teams. The opponent has a deadline to reply — repeatedly letting challenges expire counts as inactivity (see Activity and inactivity).
Pick the rival yourself and propose times that suit your team.
Post a match — the first team to accept gets it.
Suggested opponents at your level, in your region.
The rating is Elo-based: every team starts at 1000, and after each match points move from the loser to the winner. How many depends on the expectation — beat a team rated above you and you win a lot of points; beat a weaker team and you win few. Lose to a weaker team and it costs you correspondingly more.
The system uses a K-factor of 32 (the most a rating can move in one match), and a rating can never fall below 100. The calculator below uses exactly the same formula as the league — try it out:
The same formula the league uses: Elo with a K-factor of 32. Losses are never softened.
Playing the same opponent over and over does not give free points: from match number 3 against the same team within 7 days, the gain from a win is halved.
The same goes for farming much weaker teams: once the rating gap is larger than 300 points, the gain tapers off — down to 20% of the full amount. Losses are never softened — turning up always carries the full risk.
Arena Rivals rewards teams that actually play. The requirement is at least 2 matches per 14 days — teams below that lose playoff qualification until their activity is back.
Inactivity carries a penalty. Protecting a high rating by not playing is not a strategy we reward:
Inactivity penalties are applied by an admin using judgement — the point is that the ladder should reflect teams that turn up, not teams that hide.
Soft reset — every team starts near 1000 rating.
Challenge other teams and play when it suits you. Every match moves the rating.
The top 8 is locked at the end of the season and seeded by rating. Rosters lock from the start of the playoffs.
The two best teams meet in the final. A new season starts afterwards.
